The Perennial Post: August 2026

Perennial Real Estate August 18, 2026
Do you want content like this delivered to your inbox?

Doesn't it feel like summer gets shorter and shorter every year? It's not even September, and the Halloween decorations are already out at our local grocery stores and pharmacies. Let's pump the brakes!

But really, summer goes by fast because it's always jam-packed with fun things to do, whether you're vacationing, staycationing, or just relaxing with friends and family, even when we're battling the DMV humidity.

So as summer comes to a close and you're hanging out on the back patio, take some time to reflect on your real estate goals for the rest of the year and beyond. Even if you just want to chat or grab coffee and explore some options, the team at Perennial is here for you.

Have a wonderful rest of the summer and a lovely Labor Day weekend.

Agent Spotlight: Meet Dan Metcalf

Real estate has been part of Dan Metcalf's life for as long as he can remember.

As a second-generation REALTOR®, Dan learned the business from his mother, Meg Finn, one of the area's most respected real estate professionals. Working alongside her for years shaped the approach he brings to every client relationship today: listen carefully, communicate clearly, and always put the client's best interests first.

Today, Dan is a Founder of Perennial Real Estate and leads Finn Family Group, continuing a legacy built on local expertise, trusted relationships, and a commitment to helping people make informed real estate decisions throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and the surrounding communities. The Perennial name reflects both the team's deep roots and their belief in building relationships that continue long after the closing table.

Now in his 18th year as a REALTOR®, Dan has helped more than 500 families successfully buy and sell homes. He is an eight-time Five Star Professional award recipient, has been recognized multiple times as one of Washingtonian magazine's Best Real Estate Agents, and was previously ranked among his brokerage's Top 100 agents for five consecutive years. While he appreciates these recognitions, Dan considers the trust his clients place in him to be his greatest accomplishment.

Together, Dan and the Finn Family Group bring more than 30 years of combined real estate experience to buyers and sellers across the Washington metropolitan area. Whether working with first-time buyers, growing families, downsizers, or longtime homeowners preparing to sell, the team's focus remains the same: providing thoughtful guidance, honest advice, and skilled advocacy from the first conversation through closing and beyond.

Clients often describe Dan as knowledgeable, approachable, and easy to work with. He believes that buying or selling a home doesn't have to feel overwhelming. By helping clients understand the market, evaluate their options, and navigate each step of the process, he strives to replace uncertainty with confidence while keeping the experience as enjoyable as possible.

Before beginning his real estate career, Dan served in the Peace Corps in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana from 2002 to 2005. Combined with his bachelor's degree in International Affairs, that experience strengthened his communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills while reinforcing the importance of meeting people where they are and helping them achieve their goals.

Outside of real estate, Dan remains actively involved in the community he serves. He has supported numerous local schools and organizations over the years, including Shepherd's Table, the Takoma Park Safe Routes to School 5K, and the Crossroads Community Farmers Market. His commitment to the region extends beyond real estate because this is the community he proudly calls home.
